Reviewed: Marks and Spencer Autograph 60 Denier Velvet Touch Luxe opaque tights

I recently visited the iconic UK department store Marks and Spencer.



The Marble Arch branch, on London's Oxford Street has a large hosiery department that always stocks the full range of Marks and Spencer hosiery, including the better quality Autograph range.

I bought a pair of the new Autograph 60 Denier Velvet Touch Luxe Opaque Tights.



Materials and features
Marks and Spencer describe these tights as follows:

'In luxurious, beautifully soft velvet touch fabric, these tights look and feel amazing, with 3 way stretch for a perfect fit, a cotton gusset and flat seams for additional comfort they're the ultimate opaques.'

Packaging, as can be seen above, is very simple. The tights are enclosed in a card buckle designed for retail display. The advantage, is that one can feel the fabric in the store.

These tights are made from: 87% Polyamide, 12% Elastane and 1% Cotton.

The Autograph 60 Denier Velvet Touch Luxe Opaque Tights are indeed extremely soft and do feel quite amazing.



They are sheer to waist with no demarcation between the leg and the brief. Seams are flat throughout and there is no rear panel in Large of Extras Large sizes. The brief has a cotton gusset.





Toes are reinforced.

The waistband is really well-designed and is 5cm wide. Stitched into it is an 'Autograph' tag with the name of the style. This is very useful if, as I do, you have a large collection of black opaques.





Fit and sizing
The Autograph Velvet Touch Luxe Opaque Tights are available in five sizes:

• Extra small
• Small
• Medium
• Large
• Extra Large

For my height (5'10") the sizing was accurate. The tights have plenty of stretch but perhaps would not have been suited to anyone much taller than me.

The fabric feels wonderful on the legs; it is really soft and smooth.

The brief is very deep and stretches comfortably over the hips and into the abdominal area.

Colour range
The Autograph Velvet Touch Luxe Opaque Tights are available in Black only.

The Autograph Velvet Touch Luxe Opaque Tights are priced at £8.00.

Conclusion
I was slightly worried when I bought these tights to see they were made in China, rather than Italy where the Autograph range has usually been manufactured.

However, the evidence from this style is that manufacturing standards there are clearly improving as the Velvet Touch Luxe 60 Tights are excellent quality.

The fabric is top class, and there are good features such as flat seams. The waistband is also extremely comfortable.

For just £8.00 these tights are good value.

I am quite keen now to try the Autograph 100 Denier Velvet Touch Luxe Tights.
