Reviewed: Falke Seidenglatt 40 Tights

Hosiery retailers Tights Tights Tights sent us a pair of the Falke Seidenglatt 40 Tights to trial and review.

Earlier this year Tights Tights Tights interviewed Hosiery For Men and you can read the full Q & A on the Tights Tights Tights blog.

The Falke Seidenglatt 40 Tights are part of the Seidenglatt range, which also includes:

  • 15 denier tights
  • 70 denier tights
  • 15 denier ankle socks
  • 15 denier stockings
  • 15 denier stay-ups
  • 15 denier knee-highs
  • 40 denier knee-highs
The Falke 70 denier Seidenglatt tights are a great favourite at Hosiery For Men and these are also available at Tights Tights Tights.

Incidentally, the translation of the German word seidenglatt is 'silky soft'.

Packaging

The Falke Seidenglatt 40 Tights are packaged in a standard Falke fashion (acknowledging that some Falke styles are packaged differently).

The tights are folded are folded around a card rectangle that provides information on the new Falke Leg Aesthetics range on one side, and instructions on the reverse on how to put the tights on.

This is then enclosed in a larger card sleeve, that is housed in a cellophane envelope.

Material and features

Falke describe the Seidenglatt 40 Tights as:

"Elegant, semi-opaque sheer tights with a slight shine for a silky feeling on your skin. These tights are real all-rounders. Ideally suited for business, leisure or festive clothing. 40 den appearance."

The tights are made from 92% Polyamide and 8% Elastane.

The first you will notice on removing the tights from the packaging is the incredibly soft and sensual texture of the yarn. They genuinely feel 'seidenglatt" (silky soft).

The tights are sheer to waist with no demarcation from the leg to the brief/panty.

Seams are flat throughout and superbly engineered as you would expect from Falke.

The brief is deep, as is usual with Falke tights. The V/XL size I trialled has a rear comfort gusset. Sizes S-L have a conventional gusset with net structure.

Toes are rounded with light reinforcement.

The waistband is 2.5cm wide and has a further reinforcement strip below with the same measurement. In a cool touch, there is a Falke tag which on the reverse identifies the style and size. This is very helpful if you have a large hosiery collection.

Fit and sizing

The Falke Seidenglatt 40 Tights are available in six sizes:

  • S (0)
  • S/M (I)
  • M (II)
  • M/L (III)
  • L (IV)
  • XL (V)
Tights Tights Tights currently stock the S, M, L, and XL sizes. I tested the XL size.

Fit was excellent with the tights moulding beautifully the leg and providing smooth, even coverage. In appearance they are definitely semi-opaque and leg hair will show if not removed.

The tights have a slight shine; but it is more of an overall silky sheen.

They fitted my 5'10" height well but I am less confident that they would stretch much further. That all depends on the width of your legs and thoughts though.

Overall feel and wearing experience was great. Your legs will love the soft feel.

Colour range

Tights Tights Tights stocks the Falke Seidenglatt 40 Tights in two colours: Black and Powder.

We tried the Powder shade, a medium tan colour.

Falke also make this style available in Marine, Brenda and Anthracite.

Price and availability

The Falke Seidenglatt 40 Tights retail for £12.00.

Conclusion

I think we have given a recommendation badge to every Falke style we have reviewed at Hosiery For Men.

The quality of Falke tights is consistently excellent whatever style we test for readers.

We love the Falke Seidenglatt 70 opaques, so were eager to try the 40 denier version. We were not disappointed.

The Seidenglatt 40 tights are a perfect semi-opaque style. However you wear them, you will like the great soft texture. I would say they are a perfect semi-opaque tights for wear under trousers on cooler days.

Thanks to Tights Tights Tights for sending us the sample.

  2. I have been wearing these Seidenglatt 40 for more than 20 years. As of now, they have a new, wider waistband which fits even better. I am 5’8’’ and wear the M/L size. Very comfortable under trousers. All winter through. I find the SG 70 too thick under trousers, and wear them only when it is really freezing.
