Reviewed: Wolford Satin Touch 20 Tights

The Tight Spot is a leading online hosiery retailer with an extensive range of brands.

On their site you can find a carefully curated selection of tights for men that are chosen for the suitability for men to wear,

The Tight Spot recently sent us a pair of the Wolford Satin Touch 20 Tights to trial and review for Hosiery For Men readers. These tights are included in the men's tights selection at The Tight Spot.

Wolford describe these tights as follows:

"Beautiful shimmer: These sheer tights feel as soft as satin and give the skin a pure and elegant shimmer. The soft waistband features the Wolford logo and the toes are almost invisibly reinforced."

This is what The Tight Spot say:

"Wolford Satin Touch 20 denier tights have a smooth, silky feel and a gorgeous shimmer finish. These transparent tights with their soft shine add a touch of glamour to everyday occasions; the perfect way to make everyday special. With a soft comfortable waistband, a barley visible reinforced toe, cotton gusset and reinforced panty part for optimum comfort in XXL, these are well worth the investment! Gloss tights are also bang on trend this season."

Packaging

Packaging is the conventional Wolford style. The tights are folded around a card rectangle that has photos of several Wolford products. The main product information card is then folded over this before everything is enclosed in a cellophane envelope.

Material and features

The first impression I had when taking these tights from the packaging was one word: "wow!". They are light in weight, silky, soft and luxurious. I really couldn't wait to try them.

The tights are made from 88% Polyamide (Nylon), 12% Elastane.

As can be seen in the photos these tights have a noticeably shiny appearance on the leg. Coverage is even and the 20 denier yarn cleverly hides any blemishes on the skin providing a nice cosmetic effect.

They completely sheer from waist to toe. The waistband is 2.5cm wide and has also has a semi-sheer 5.5cm finger band extending beneath it. Seams are flat.

Legs are fully boarded and anatomically shaped to provide a superior fit.

The brief is, as in all Wolford styles, deep and roomy and will stretch easily over the waist and hips. It measures just over 30cm in depth from the waistband to the cotton gusset. The signature Wolford tag is sewn into the inside of the waistband.

The XL size I tried has no rear comfort panel.

Toes have light reinforcement.

Fit, sizing and wearing experience

The Wolford Satin Touch 20 Tights are available in six sizes at The Tight Spot:

  • XSmall
  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
  • XL
  • XXLarge
I tested a pair in the XL size.

Note that in some colours an XXLarge size is available. This will be welcomed by larger women and men.

You need to take care when putting these tights on. The material is really quite delicate and catches easily. Hosiery gloves are strongly recommended.

The feeling on the skin is light, smooth and quite luxurious. They definitely provide a sensual wearing experience!

The tights have impressive stretch and elasticity and once on the fit is superb. They mould themselves to the leg but feel light and airy, with good breathability.

The brief is really comfortable. That 30cm depth is becoming a benchmark for me as the sizing that really suits men.

Although the waistband is narrower than some more recent Wolford styles it doesn't roll or dig in.

The smooth, shiny feel of these tights allows them to work well under trousers as the glide is excellent.

Colour range

The Wolford Satin Touch 20 Tights are available from The Tight Spot in a wide range of colours:

  • Black
  • Caramel
  • Cosmetic
  • Gobi
  • Steel
  • Admiral
  • Marmor
  • Sand
  • Coca
  • Nearly Black

I trialled them in the Caramel shade.

Conclusion

The Wolford Satin Touch 20 Tights are certainly an eye-catching wear with the high shine appearance.

As far as sheer tights go, these are without doubt one of the best styles you can buy for the following reasons:

  • Superb quality yarn and design
  • Great range of colours
  • Perfect fit
  • Deep, comfortable brief
  • Overall sensual wearing experience and great feeling when worn
If you buy them as part of the 3 for 2 pack then the price is extremely reasonable at just over £11.00 a pair.

We confidently give them a recommendation.

Thanks to The Tight Spot for the sample and for their support for the Hosiery For Men blog.

  1. Satin Touch 20's are some the finest tights I have ever worn... the review is spot-on. Silky smooth, they just feel amazing to wear. 6'2" athletic build and XL fits great, plenty of length but enough "grip" that they don't slip down; XXL is actually a little too big for me. I would also highly recommend the Perfectly 30's; they have a bit more stretch and not quite as much shine; also sensuously smooth and sheer. As a fairly large man, I prefer the conventional center-seam with gusset design over the back panel tights common in larger sizes, so another +1 for Wolford.

  2. The tights are made from 88% Polyamide (Nylon), 12% Elastane.
so why pay more? usual tights with 12% elastane cost around 2-3 pounds, the wolford £16.95? Now, where is the logic in that?
For this price it should be 20+ % elastane

  3. I am also a fan of the Satin Touch 20. I agree too, the review is spot-on, perfect look, perfect fit. I find the the brighter colors are shining a little more than the darker colors.

  4. Another splendid review, the Satin Touch 20's are my go-to everyday tights. As another mentioned above, it's great to have tights in XL that feature a regular gusset and fantastic leg length making them especially well suited for men. Although fine in appearance, I find them generally robust and they maintain their shape after many wears & washes. It is these qualities, amongst many, that make them a genuinely good value for money purchase.
