Record number dons Robin Hood tights

A record number of people came together in Nottinghamshire this weekend to dress up as local hero Robin Hood.

Some 1,215 people donned green tights and feathers, amounting to almost 100 more participants than the previous record set by the same group in 2008.

The gathering took place at the Camping and Caravanning Club's National Feast of Lanterns, which brought together outdoor enthusiasts from around the UK.

All participants were required to wear the complete Robin Hood costume, including a feathered hat, green or brown tunic, and appropriate tights and footwear. Prizes were also awarded on the day to the people who were deemed to have made a special effort.

Robin Hood is synonymous with Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire for stealing from the rich and giving to the poor and has become famous worldwide after numerous Hollywood and theatre productions.
