Gerbe tights for men discontinued?

It was really disappointing to read today that it looks like Gerbe are going discontinue their range of tights for men.

I have previously blogged about the superb quality of Gerbe men's tights here and here.

I will be contacting Gerbe to see if this can be confirmed.

  1. Say it ain't so! That would really suck as I just found out about their products. Where did you hear about this? Time to stock up!

  2. It was reported on the Legwear as Unisex fashion forum. I have written to Gerbe today for more news.

  3. Wow, this is a disappointing news. I sure hope it's more rumor than truth. If they are indeed retiring the line, I have to wonder why. Perhaps for economic reasons? Their tights are seriously expensive and so I have to believe they've lost some sales in recent years because of that.

Once a design is crafted, most of the manufacturing is automated. So, if they aren't revising the line, then the overhead cost continues to diminish over time. So profits would go up, unless you allow for some discounting to maintain the profit but increase sales.

  4. Did you find out from Gerbe if this is truth or rumor? I hope it's the latter, if anything for the sake of the trend not fizzling out.

  8. I have been impressed with the Autograph 60 denier opaque tights (reviewed on this blog) and the 40 denier silky soft tights. But I feel the quality of their sheer tights is not as good as it was in the past. M & S used to also sell a greta range of Italian hosiery in the 1990s but they have disappeared. Most of their tights seem to be made in China now.
