Reviewed: Sheer Chemistry 15 Denier "Ambition" Matt Tights

This summer we were so pleased to get an invite to the launch in London of new hosiery brand Sheer Chemistry.

Sheer Chemistry celebrates the "diverse beauty of women of all shades of brown", and offer tights in five shades to match different skin tones.

There are three styles of tights in the Sheer Chemistry range.

  • 10 Denier "Radiance" Gloss Tights
  • 15 Denier "Ambition" Matt Tights
  • 15 Denier "Confidence" Matt Control Tights

We have now had a chance to trial the 15 Denier "Ambition" Matt Tights and here is our review.

The Sheer Chemistry 15 Denier "Ambition" Matt Tights are conventionally packaged. However, what sets them apart from other brands are the stylish watercolour illustrations by artist Michelle Pam.

The tights are folded around a plain card rectangle and then housed in a clear cellophane sleeve.

Material and features

The Sheer Chemistry 15 Denier "Ambition" Matt Tights are made in Italy and that customary Italian quality is evident as soon as you remove them out the packaging.

They have a soft, silly feel and are also extremely light.

The tights are made with 87% Polyamide and 12% Elastane (Lycra). In sizes S, M and L there is also 1% Cotton (used in the gusset).

The Ambition tights are sheer to waist.

The brief has flat seams and a reinforced strip either side of the central seam.

The waistband is just 1.5cm wide, but additional comfort is provided by a 1.5cm finger band.

Toes are sheer but with light reinforcement.

Sizing, fit and wearing experience

The Sheer Chemistry "Ambition" 15 Denier Matt Tights are available in four sizes: S, M, L and XL.

The XL size, that I trialled, has a rear panel for enhanced comfort.

The sizing information is spot on for accuracy as the XL was a perfect fit for my 177cm height.

The 12% Elastane/Lycra in the knit really helps the tights to mould to the leg for a really close and comfortable fit. There is no wrinkling or bunching, just a pure second skin feeling.

The Ambition tights and genuinely matt with very little shine. Under trousers the glide is very good.

The brief is deep and generous and rises comfortably above the hips and waist.

Colour range

The Sheer Chemistry "Ambition" 15 Denier Matt Tights are available in five shades. Each shade aims to evoke the mood of a place.

Havana Glow

Rio Romance

New York Soul

Nairobi Sunrise

Parisian Dream

I tried the Parisian Dream shade.

Price and availability

The Sheer Chemistry "Ambition" 15 Denier Matt Tights are priced at £8.50.

They can be purchased directly through the Sheer Chemistry website.

For quality sheer tights, the Sheer Chemistry "Ambition" 15 Denier Matt Tights are hard to beat.

I found them to be a really comfortable wear, and they provided a nice sensation of wellbeing for the legs the whole day I had them on.

At £8.50 the pricing is also very attractive.
