Reviewed: Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights

We are gradually reviewing styles from the new range of Ultimate tights from hosiery brand Aristoc

So far we have reviewed the Aristoc Ultimate Smoothing 15 Denier Tights and the Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Ladder Resist Matt Tights.

We now focus on the Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights.

Packaging

The Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights come in the new packaging that has been created for the whole of the Aristoc Ultimate collection. There is a uniform design aesthetic to the whole range.

The tights are folded around a card rectangle that provides information on the whole of the Ultimate range.

This is then sealed in a plastic sleeve. Everything is then housed in an interestingly designed and unique card enclosure. Four triangular flaps open outwards to reveal the tights inside.

Material and features

You may have noticed (if you check the Ultimate page on the Aristoc website) that there are several styles of 10 denier tights in the Ultimate range. In our last review we evaluated the Ultimate 10 Denier Ladder Resist Matt Tights. At the end of this section we will try and summarise the key features and differences for compared to the style currently under review.

Here is Aristoc's description of the Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights:

"Exceptional softness and a beautifully smooth, matt appearance thanks to the special nanofibre yarns used to knot these tights and hold ups."

Unlike the Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Ladder Resist Matt Tights, which are made in Turkey, the Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights are made in Italy.

The yarn used is 64% Polyamide and 36% Elastane. The gusset is made from Cotton.

Once again, as with the 10 Denier Ladder Resist style, the tights looked very small once removed from the packaging. But any worries about this are soon dispelled as the stretch is very impressive indeed.

These tights feel exceptionally soft. One of the notable improvements that Artistic have achieved with the Ultimate range is definitely the feel of the tights. That's good that attention has been paid to this, as no-one wants to wear rough-feeling tights these days.

Here's another difference to the Ultimate 10 Denier Ladder Resist Matt Tights: they are not sheer to waist, but have a slightly darker panty/body that is quite clearly demarcated from the leg.

Another of the significant improvements Aristoc have made with the Ultimate range is the upgrading made in waistband design. This style has what is described as a deep, comfort waistband. It is 7cm deep and very stretchy.

The body is quite deep, measuring 25cm from the top of the waistband to the gusset.

Seams are flat and very well executed. There is no finger band beneath the waistband, or any reinforcement either side of the central seam. The XL size has no rear comfort panel. There is a cotton gusset which has been designed to be breathable.

A welcome touch, which again reflects the quality and attention to detail of the Ultimate range, is an Aristoc tag sewn into the rear of the body.

Toes have very light reinforcement. which is barely visible.

Sizing, fit and wearing experience

The Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights come are available in four sizes:
  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
  • Extra Large

I wore the Extra Large size.

Like the Ultimate 10 Denier Ladder Resist, the tights looked quite small when removed from the packaging. But they have impressive stretch.

The 36% Elastane certainly provided a very close, tight fit on the leg and body. Like the 10 Denier Ladder Resist style they provide a "second skin" fit and feel. There is no wrinkling anywhere. Comfort level is excellent.

What I particularly liked about this style is that they are completely matt when worn, and also more or less invisible. You could wear the Nude colour with shorts and it would not be easy at all to tell that you had tights on.

Colour range

The Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights are available in just two colours: Nude and Black.

I wore them in the Nude shade.

Price and availability

The Aristoc Ultimate 10 Denier Matt Tights are priced at £13.00.

They can be purchased directly from the Aristoc website.

Conclusion

This is our third review from the Aristoc Ultimate range and so far the quality of the tights in the collection is excellent.

The 10 Denier Matt Tights have lots of positive features:
  • Flat seams
  • Superior fit with a very high Elastane content in the yarn
  • A very comfortable, deep waistband
  • Breathable cotton gusset
I wasn't quite sure why this style costs £5.00 more than the 10 Denier Ladder Resist version. I checked this with Aristoc and they replied that it is made with a higher spec yarn for a more luxurious feel on the leg. I wore both styles again to check this, and yes, the 10 Denier Matt does indeed feel softer and smoother than the Ladder Resist style.

More Aristoc Ultimate reviews are on the way. Next up will be the Aristoc Ultimate 15 Denier Shine Tights

  1. Ive tried 5d tights M&S own. I was only caught out by bagging round the ankles and constant scrutiny on the train by a Russian couple. Lycra is a good choice but always adds shine in my experience. Interested to see how these perform. Id consider 5 nudeish tones minimum at that price point. Overtrading unlikely at such cost.

  2. Checkout Wolford " what are mens tights for". Quite encouraging. Also searching tights for men Falke has been topping the seo till recently. Maybe AW19 will be the year mens tights goes mainstream! It'll happen sooner or later.
