Reviewed: Pretty Polly Legs On The Go Compression Socks

Hosiery brand Pretty Polly sent us a pair of their Legs On The Go Compression Socks to review for Hosiery For Men readers.

They are part of Pretty Polly's Legs On The Go range of support tights and compression socks.

We have already reviewed the Pretty Polly 60 Denier Legs On The Go Light Support Opaque Tights.

Pretty Polly state that the all "Legs On The Go" range contain compression which can help your legs feel less tired and achy when you are on the go.

Packaging

The Pretty Polly Legs On The Go Compression Socks are packaged very simply in a card clasp, with an eyelet for retail display.

Material and features

Here's what Pretty Polly say about these compression socks:

"Light compression hosiery helps reduce swelling in the ankles, making these socks ideal for long periods of standing or sitting. They help stimulate blood flow, which help prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis and Varicose veins.

"Enjoy a vibrant compression sock in a wearable black. Perfect for wearing whilst travelling or during work! The Pretty Polly Compression Sock will energise the leg, as well as being tough wearing!"

The Pretty Polly Legs On The Go Compression Socks are 40 denier. The yarn composition is 89% Nylon and 11% Elastane.

They feel very soft to the touch, but also seem to be quite robust. Pretty Polly say that they are "ladder resist".

In appearance they are almost completely matter, with only a slight shine.

Although described by Pretty Polly as 40 denier, they provide almost complete opaque coverage. On the leg they look more like 60 denier.

These compression socks are anatomically shaped, with the top of the calf being wider than the ankle. The foot is also shaped with a reinforced heel and reinforced toe.

In a further touch of quality, the sole is reinforced with the Pretty Polly logo.

At the top of the socks there is 2cm wide cuff. Incorporated in this is a soft ribbing that provides additional support to the rear of the calf.

When worn you can also make out how the Pretty Polly "PP" logo has also been woven into the yarn just below the cuff.

Sizing, fit and wearing experience

The Pretty Polly Legs On The Go Compression Socks are available in One Size only.

I usually avoid One Size products as, to put it simply, they are often too small. My shoe size is UK 10.5, so there was understandably a bit of concern about the sizing.

I actually needn't have worried as the fit was great. The socks have good stretch and fitted snugly on the foot. There was also sufficient length on the leg, with the sock comfortably fitting right up to the knee.

These compression socks are easy to put on. The compression and support is light but you can still feel it.

When we reviewed the Pretty Polly 60 Denier Legs On The Go Light Support Opaque Tights, we described the feeling as being highly energised, warm comfortable and relaxing. This applies to this product also.

Colour range

The Pretty Polly Legs On The Go Compression Socks are available in two colours: Black and Natural.

We wore the Black colour.

Price and availability

The Pretty Polly Legs On The Go Compression Socks are are priced at £10.00. You can buy them directly from Pretty Polly.

You can also purchase them from UK Tights (a retailer we highly recommend) for £9.99.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a support/compression sock for everyday wear, the Pretty Polly Legs On The Go Compression Socks are definitely worth your consideration.

They are warm and comfortable, and would be welcome if your legs get tired.

Fit excellent and the price reasonable for the quality on offer.

Recommended.

  2. Ive been reading the yarm mix of mens finer socks for years. Theres definitely a shift going on. Many makes from M and S to Primark now have the same mix as tights nylon polymide and small percentage lycra. Even modal in some cases. Ive yet to see any heel free but once they do no one will tell the difference between mens socks and tights. It must save manufacturers money too.
