Reviewed: Platino 180 Denier Térmico (Thermal) Tights

Spanish hosiery brand Platino sent us a pair of their 180 Denier Térmico (Thermal) Tights to trial and review.

They are part of Platino's Térmico (Thermal) range, that includes knee high socks, tights and leggings.

Packaging

The Platino 180 Denier Térmico (Thermal) Tights are very simply packaged in a basic card clasp. Product information is minimal, and a size chart is not provided.

Material and features

All the products in Platino's Térmico (Thermal) range are 180 denier, including these tights.

Platino describes them as follows:

"180 denier products, made with a plush fabric on the inside that provides a pleasant thermal effect on the colder days; on the outside you see an elegant garment that will coordinate perfectly with your wardrobe."

They are made from 90% Polyester and 10% Elastane.

At 180 denier, opacity is total and coverage on the leg is even throughout.

These tights are sheer to waist without significantly visible demarcation between the leg and brief/panty. There is a band running across the thigh, just below the brief, but this is barely visible when worn. You can see this in the picture below.

The knit on the outside surface of these tights has a very slight ribbed texture.

A key feature of the Platino Térmico (Thermal) tights is the plush lining on the inside. This is extremely soft and warm to the touch.

The brief is quite interesting, as it has both a rear and front comfort panel. From a male perspective this is welcome as it provides good support for the male anatomy.

The brief has good depth, measuring 24cm from the top of the waistband to the crotch. There was no gusset in the size I wore.

The waistband is 4.5cm wide.

Toes are reinforced.

Sizing, fit and wearing experience

The Platino 180 Denier Térmico (Thermal) Tights are available in four sizes: M-II, G-III, S-IV and SM-V.

I needed to consult Platino to understand this sizing system. They helpfully sent me some useful size charts.

I wore the S-IV size. This seems to be the largest size available, in terms of leg length.

Fit was excellent. The tights have loads of stretch and the high Elastane content works really well to envelop the legs.

The brief was nice and deep and stretched comfortably above the waist.

The plush lining provided really nice insulation. What I particularly liked was that the tights were not too bulky. The level of insulation was just right for the very cool day when I wore them.

Colour range

The Platino 180 Denier Térmico (Thermal) Tights are available in six colours:

I wore the Grafito colour, a dark, charcoal grey.

Price and availability

The Platino 180 Denier Térmico (Thermal) Tights retail in Spain for around €10.00.

It is quite easy to find them in Spainish department stores such as El Corte Ingles.

If you are not based in Spain, you should be able to find them via Ebay and Amazon.

Conclusion

The Platino 180 Denier Térmico (Thermal) Tights do, as we say, what it says on the tin. They are genuine thermal tights that will keep you legs warm and keep you insulated on the coldest days.

They score highly for comfort and fit. The dual comfort panel (front and rear) makes them a genuine unisex product.

Pricewise, they also seem to be extremely good value.
