Spotlight on MyPantyhoseGirl

Maria and Mikko are a young couple living in Finland.

Maria loves modeling, fashion and is always looking for beautiful styles that can be complemented with tights.

Mikko loves photography.

Together they have created one of the most beautiful and impressive hosiery blogs: MyPantyhoseGirl.

We recently interviewed Maria and are really pleased to now publish the conversation we had.

Hi Maria, can you tell us a bit about yourself and Mikko and why you started the MyPantyhoseGirl blog?

First of all thank you so much for interviewing us! We are a married young couple who lives in Finland and enjoys the lifestyle of modelling and taking pictures of our daily life and showing it in the blog. Our blog is a hobby and recently we started a YouTube channel, as well as Instagram and Twitter which show the passion for pantyhose/tights together with fashion and modern style.

What is unique about the MyPantyhoseGirl blog and what are you aiming to achieve

We get a lot of letters from all over the world with thank-you notes about our blog and for us it is already unique that so many people appreciate what we do. We show that every girl should show her beauty and it is so easy to emphasize with beautiful looks combined with tights. Right now we are aiming to explore all the tights brands that exist in the world and find one perfect pair which will become utopia.

How else can people stay in touch with your work, apart from the blog?

We have YouTube channel, Twitter and Instagram. On Instagram you can see our daily updates.

You were one of the winners of the Wolford #UPDATE YOUR LEGS competition. Can you tell us more about the competition and the experience of winning?

The competition was absolutely breathtaking for me and Mikko. I couldn’t imagine that we would win but we decided to participate and it happened. You can read about the competition and see more photos from our post in the blog.

What are your favourite brands of tights?

I love many: Wolford, Cecilia de Rafael, Gatta, Falke, Kunert, Pretty Polly, Calzedonia. Each of these brands have new collections every season and I always find something new and interesting for my outfits to wear.

Are there any brands you are eager to try and review?

I have heard that Swiss brand Fogal is great. I have received two pairs recently and will review in YouTube channel. I would also like to try the American brands Victoria’s Secret and Hue.

There has been a lot of media coverage of tights for men recently. What are your thoughts about the greater visibility of men buying and wearing tights?

I consider tights to be unisex clothing. You can just find more of tights for women because women are bigger consumers in clothing and where is a demand - there is an offer. I think there should be more items in the market for men.

To men thinking about trying tights, what would you say are the main benefits of wearing them?
Tights are very comfortable especially when it is cold. They prevent cold air and they are very comfortable to wear. I think you can try different models, experiment and find what you like the most. Especially try support tights which will help your legs stay more energetic.

What can we expect next at MyPantyhoseGirl?
We have some projects about which you will know soon. Stay tuned in!

Thanks for speaking to Hosiery For Men Maria. I hope our readers will enjoy reading about the blog and stay in touch with you.

Visit to Fenwick of Bond Street hosiery department

I paid a first visit today to the recently relaunched Leg Room hosiery department at the famous Fenwick of Bond Street department store.

The press office at Fenwick were more than happy to help facilitate the visit and make sure I was welcomed, and was able to take some photos for Hosiery For Men readers.

The hosiery department is a beautifully designed space, which is open and carefully lit to ensure all the hosiery available is visible and accessible for browsing.

Although each brand has its own section in the department, the overall look is very integrated.

This is one of the very best department store hosiery departments I have even visited in Europe. To be on sale here, you really have to be a top brand with a reputation for quality.

The selection is superb and includes brands such as Wolford, Falke, Donna Karan, Oroblu, Falke, Pretty Polly, Spanx, Pierre Mantoux and Nubian Skin.

Customer service is exceptional with all the staff I spoke to being not only knowledgable about the product, but also genuinely passionate about hosiery.

When I explained that I was visiting to also buy some tights for myself, they were also immediately clear which brands would provide the best fit for men, from their knowledge and experience: Falke and Wolford.

I was assisted by Andrea who had excellent knowledge of the whole of the Falke and Wolford ranges, and patiently showed me a wide range of styles, getting out samples to show what the tights looked like on the skin and the feel of the fabric.

Andrea told me that the hosiery department at Fenwick had many male customers, who purchased tights for a range of reasons: cycling, sports, to go with outfits or just because they liked them. She emphasised that men visiting the department would feel welcome as they wouldn't be judged and would receive the same level of customer care as anyone else.

It was a tough decision to decide what to buy, but with Andrea's help I decided on a pair of the Falke Pure Shine 40 tights and a pair of the Wolford Neon 40 tights.

As mentioned in an earlier post, Fenwick Bond Street have a resident hosiery expert, Sue Harrison, who has more than 40 years experience. You can send Sue any question you have about hosiery by posting it on Instagram or Twitter @Fenwickbondst using the hashtag #ASKSUE and she will get back to you.

If you are visiting London and you are looking for top quality hosiery, in a store with friendly and knowledgeable service, I can definitely recommend a visit to Fenwick of Bond Street.

What does she think?

What does she think?

This is the question posed by another men's hosiery blogger Christopher James, the writer and creator of the blog LegStyle.

Christopher explains why he started the LegStyle blog:

I have decided to write on behalf of all men who, like me, have worn tights for many years, and have always wondered "Why are they considered a woman's garment?" Like jeans, and button up shirts, or anything else you would consider a Man's Garment... Tights were once only for men. This was back before women were allowed to wear pants, or even show their legs. Thankfully times have changed, and women can now wear whatever they want... so why can't men?

In his latest blog post, 'What does she think?', Christopher provides an opportunity for women to share their opinions on men wearing tights.

He explains:

Now it's time to open the floor to the women. If there are any women, wives, girlfriends, etc. out there that wish to voice your opinion on the subject of men wearing tight, leggings, anything LegStyle related... This post is for you!

What do you think of your man wearing tights... or men in general wearing LegStyle garments as apart of their everyday attire?

Does your man wear LegStyle, or if you're single, would you date a man that does?

What would you do if you came home, and caught your man wearing a pair of tights? It's a shock at first, but he say's they're comfortable, and he wants to wear them more openly with shorts....

Would it make a difference if you knew the tights were designed / made just for the male anatomy?

Do you think tights should be made available in the men's department, so we men can stay out of the women's department?

I know that Hosiery For Men has quite a large female readership, so if you would like to comment and share your opinions, do pay a visit to LegStyle. There are some interesting comments already!

Reviewed: Oroblu All Colours 50 Denier 3D Slide Touch Tights

The Irish hosiery retailer DressMyLegs sent Hosiery For Men a selection of tights to trial and review.

You can read our reviews of the following styles that they stock:

Cecilia de Rafael Ave 70 Denier Opaque Tights

Steven Laura Cotton Rich Opaque Tights

Veneziana Cover 100 Denier Opaque Tights

We know focus on the Oroblu All Colours 50 Denier 3D Slide Touch Tights.

These tights came very highly recommended by DressMyLegs for their unique silky feel that makes them great to wear under clothes. DressMyLegs told us that they were particularly suitable for wear under trousers.

Material and features

The Oroblu All Colours 50 Denier 3D Slide Touch Tights are described by DressMyLegs as follows:

Brighten up your wardrobe with a different colour every day in a pair of these 50 Denier opaque tights. Available in the most trendy colours, they are made using 3D technology which gives them incredibly soft and silky feel and lets clothes glide over.

The tights come in quite sturdy, typical Oroblu packaging. The tights are enclosed in a cellophane sleeve which is then housed in a robust card envelope

The tights are made from 90% polyamide and 10% elastane. They have an incredibly soft feel and the fabric is very stretchy.

Opacity is consistent but not total, as you would expect with 50 denier. There is a slight sheen.

Seams are flat. There was no rear comfort panel in the L/XL size; all sizes have a plain gusset. Toes have no reinforcement.

The tights are sheer to waist with a 3.5cm wide waistband.

Fit and sizing
The Oroblu All Colours 50 Denier 3D Slide Touch Tights are available in two sizes: S/M and L/XL.

I tested the L/XL size.

As mentioned above, this Oroblu style has an impressive amount of stretch. The fit is exceptional and like a second skin.

The tights feel incredibly soft and smooth when worn, and mould themselves to your legs.

The waistband is particularly comfortable, along with the brief which is deep and stretches over the hips with ease.

The high Elastane content helps the tights stay in position and they needed very little adjustment.

As the 'Slide Touch' name indicates, these tights perform exactly as expected. Jeans or trousers just glide over them. The feeling when worn is very nice indeed.

Colour range
The Oroblu All Colours 50 Denier 3D Slide Touch Tights are available in a wide range of colours including:

Beige 7
Orange 6
Violet 7
Grey 8
Blue 11
Bordeaux 5
Brown 4
Coral 3
Black
Garden 2
Red 10
Fuxia 7
Blue 12
Green 18
Cobalto 7

I tested a pair in the Blue 11 shade.

Price and availability
The Oroblu All Colours 50 Denier 3D Slide Touch Tights are priced at €11.95.

Service is excellent at DressMyLegs and items are despatched quickly.

International postage is €5.95 and free for orders of over €50.00.

Conclusion

It's always good to try something new from Orublu as their products are such good quality. We have reviewed several Oroblu styles here already.

The Oroblu All Colours 50 Denier 3D Slide Touch Tights were even better than I expected them to be.

The wearing experience is exceptional, and they are perfect under trousers. The glide is wonderful and at this time of year the 50 denier fabric is just what is needed for a bit of additional warmth when needed.

Highly recommended.

Thanks again to DressMyLegs for the samples and their support for the Hosiery For men blog.
