Guest review: Falke Pure Shine 15 Tights

We are really pleased to have a new guest reviewer at Hosiery For Men! Faria, a business entrepreneur, has just sent us her review of the Falke Pure Shine 15 Tights, a sample of which was kindly supplied by UK Tights.

This is the first review we have publish by a female reader of the blog. We have many women who enjoy reading our hosiery reviews here and welcome more female guest reviewers.

Packaging

What a delight to receive the Falke tights!

The packaging was nice and normal, nothing fiddly, having cut myself on boxes before. With a card inside to keep everything in place and wrapped around this were the silkiest tights ever. I ran my hands through them and didn't find them to be rough or itchy. The card inside actually had a 4-step guide on how to put them on properly, I thought that a bit odd but really, was most impressed as I hadn't realised that I wasn't putting them on incorrectly, who knew!

Material and features

Falke describe these tights as follows:

"The new era of transparency - FALKE Pure Shine 15 gives an elegant sheen, delicate sheerness and a fine mesh structure. The innovative material composition with high moisture-absorption rate and particularly soft grip gives a high degree of comfort. The hygienic net gusset in sizes S–L and comfort gusset in sizes XL–XXL, the high-quality soft-seam finish and durable toe with comfortable soft-seam are some of the best features."

The Falke Pure Shine 15 Tights are made with 89% Polyamide and 11% Elastane.

There is a gusset so that 'delicate' area is reinforced if you will. Really helps if you have dry hands and not having moisturised your legs (ie with lotion on your hands - a no no!).

Fit and sizing

The Falke Pure Shine 15 Tights are available in five sizes at UK Tights:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
  • XL
  • XXL

I tested the L size which fitted me perfectly.

Colour range

The Falke Pure Shine 15 Tights are available in five colours at UK Tights:

  • Black
  • Marine
  • Brenda
  • Powder
  • Crystal

I tested the Crystal shade.

Price and availability

The Falke Pure Shine 15 Tights are priced at £12.99 at UK Tights.

Conclusion

I would recommend these sexy tights not just because of the luxurious feel but they do make your legs look rather slim owing to the 'shine' in them'. I have worn shiny tights before and that 'gold' look isn't always a winner but in this case - YES PLEASE!

We recently published news that Activskin, the US based men's hosiery brand and retailer, have started to stock men's tights from the Polish brand Adrian.

The first style in stock was Street: sheer-to-the-waist pantyhose/tights for men, which has been selling well.

Three more Adrian styles are now available.

Urban: A footless version of Street but with the same features.

Roger: a control brief pantyhose with attached sock, and a scroll "tattoo" on the back of the left leg.

Reviewed: Le Bourget All Colours Slide Touch 50 Denier Tights

UK Tights sent us a two-pair pack of the Le Bourget All Colours Slide Touch 50 Denier Tights to trial and review.

Packaging

Packaging for Le Bourget All Colours Slide Touch 50 Denier Tights is very simple. The tights are folded and housed in a card clasp.

Material and features

UK Tights describe the All Colours range as follows:

"Le Bourget's amazing and always loved All Colours range is now back! After several years of discontinuing the range, they are now being reintroduced with some amazing new colours and the same incredible fabrics and finish that Le Bourget are known for."

The tights are made from 90% Polyamide and 10% Elastane.

They are 50 denier, sheer to waist tights. The yarn is very good quality and has a very soft, stretchy, silky feel. Le Bourget state that the yarn is made with a special, innovative antistatic thread which means the tights will not stick to clothing.

Seams are flat and there is a cotton gusset. Toes are not reinforced.

The brief has good depth and is quite roomy and stretchy. The waistband is a generous 3.5cm.

Fit and sizing

The Le Bourget All Colours Slide Touch 50 Denier Tights are available in two sizes at UK Tights:

  • 1/2 (Small /Medium)
  • 3/4 (Large/X Large)
I tested the 3/4 (Large/X Large) size.

These Le Bourget tights have an impressive amount of stretch. The fit is exceptional and like a second skin.

The tights feel very soft and smooth when worn, and mould themselves to your legs.

The waistband is particularly comfortable, along with the brief which is deep and stretches over the hips with ease.

The high Elastane content helps the tights stay in position and they need very little adjustment.

As the 'Slide Touch' name indicates, these tights perform very well under clothing. Jeans or trousers just glide over them. The feeling when worn is very nice indeed.

Colour range

If you purchase the two-pair pack of Le Bourget All Colours Slide Touch 50 Denier Tights at UK Tights, the following colour combinations are available:

I chose the Black/Brown combination.

If you choose to purchase a single pair only, a wider range of colours are available.

Price and availability

A single pair of the Le Bourget All Colours Slide Touch 50 Denier Tights retail at UK Tights for £9.99. However a two-pair pack is better value and costs just £14.99.

Conclusion

This is the first time we have reviewed any Le Bourget tights. UK Tights stocks an impressive range of their styles.

It's always good to try a new brand and the Le Bourget All Colours Slide Touch 50 Denier Tights didn't disappoint. They get a recommendation for the following reasons:

  • They feel great under any kind of trousers and have impressive glide. Along with the Wolford Satin Opaque 50 Tights (also in stock at UK Tights) they are two of the best styles we have tired for wearing under long pants.
  • The price of the two-pair pack at £14.99 is terrific value.
Thanks to UK Tights for the sample and for supporting the Hosiery For Men blog.

Reviewed: Wolford Merino Tights

We covered the recent launch at thetightspot.com of their new category of men's tights - a carefully chosen selection of tights from brands and styles in stock that are suitable for men.

As part of the launch we also interviewed Sophie and Sarah of the thetightspot.com as part of the launch of their recommended tights for men.

thetightspot.com kindly sent us a pair of the Wolford Merino Tights to trial and review.

Packaging

Wolford have really gone the extra mile to make the whole packaging and presentation of this style something different.

The tights are packaged in an elegant box, with a lid that slides open to reveal the tights sitting in a tray.

The tights are folded around card and then wrapped in special Wolford tissue paper. It really feels quite special opening them.

Material and features

First impressions are very positive indeed. The yarn feels wonderfully soft and warm. The legs are also very long - a great sign for male wearers.

The tights are made from 49% Virgin Wool, 49% Nylon and 2% Elastane.

The low Elastane content is quite surprising. But wait, this is what Wolford say:

"Elastane is not needed on the leg, because wool has a high natural stretch of its own."

Elastane is used in the 3cm wide knitted waistband, which also has the usual Wolford label seen into the inside seam.

As mentioned above the legs have excellent length and are tapered - the thighs have more room and this narrows towards the calf and ankles.

Closer inspection reveals the real touches of quality: the toe, heel and sole are all reinforced to provide durability and longer wear. The reinforcement on the sole is barely visible so well is it engineered.

The brief is, as in all Wolford styles, nice and roomy and will stretch easily over the waist and hips.

Seams are flat and there is a wool gusset. Extra Large Wolford tights do not have a rear comfort panel.

Fit and sizing

The Wolford Merino Tights are available in four sizes at thetightspot.com:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
  • XL
I tested a pair in the XL size.

These tights feel just amazingly soft and comfortable on the skin. They provide warmth but the skin is also able to breathe. If your legs sweat at all, you will find that the wool in the yarn absorbs this and also allows for evaporation.

The sizing in the XL size is really quite generous in the leg as well as the brief.

The fit was excellent and the Merino Tights were just so comfortable to wear.

Colour range

The Wolford Merino Tights are available from thetightspot.com in Black and Cream colours.

I tested the Black colour.

Price and availability

The
Wolford Merino Tights are priced at £38.95.

Conclusion

Are these the best wool tights you can buy? I can't see anything else that can touch the Wolford Merino Tights for quality, detail and comfort.

I can see that Falke, Fogal, Kunert and Trasparenze all make some very nice wool tights; some with cotton and some with cashmere.

But it's hard to see how the Wolford Merino Tights can be bettered.

If you want a touch of absolute luxury then go for these. I can't wait for the cooler autumn weather to arrive so I can wear them regularly.

Thanks to thetightspot.com for the sample and for their support for the Hosiery For Men blog.

Reviewed: Falke Leg Energiser 50 Tights

UK Tights sent us a pair of the Falke Leg Energizer 50 Tights, part of Falke's recently launched Leg Aesthetics range.

Falke explain the concept behind the Leg Energiser range:

"Ideal for overcoming extreme stress in style. The vitalising effect of the anatomically adapted pressure distribution with its enhanced range of functions also ensures that the deeper arteries and veins are stimulated. This gives your legs more energy and leaves them feeling light and buoyant. It also leaves them looking beautiful for longer."

The Leg Aesthetics range has two variants: Leg Vitalizer and Leg Energizer. The former provides medium pressure/compression and the latter strong pressure/compression.

Packaging

Packaging for Falke Leg Energizer 50 Tights is quite different to most Falke tights we have reviewed. This style comes in a smart but robust box.

The rear of the box provides product and sizing information.

Inside the tights are folded around a card booklet that provides more information about the Leg Aesthetics range. This is then wrapped in a special translucent paper.

The inside of the box also provides detailed instructions on how to put the tights on, which is actually quite useful.

Material and features

Falke describe the Leg Energizer 50 Tights as follows:

  • Ideal for overcoming extreme stress sustainably and in style. The vitalising effect of the anatomically adapted pressure distribution with its higher performance even reaches deeper arteries and veins. This gives your legs more energy and leaves them feeling light and buoyant. At the same time, your legs are not at risk of losing their shape prematurely from within, and remain beautiful longer. Excellent comfort and unrestricted freedom of movement. Fine transparent mesh structure for a naturally beautiful appearance. 50 den appearance.
  • Compression effect actively stimulates and energises your legs - for extreme strains while sitting, standing or walking, as well as when travelling.
  • Shaping effect for perfectly formed, slender legs.
  • Strong pressure flow improves blood circulation and oxygen supply. You feel fit and strong all day long.
The tights are made from 77% Polyamide and 23% Elastane. They are 50 denier and have a matt appearance. The knit has a very fine mesh structure. The tights feel soft and velvety.

They are not sheer to waist but have a boxer style brief that is black, contrasting slightly with the marine shade on the leg.

The tights are shaped in the leg: the thigh area has more room and tapers gradually towards the calf and ankle. The leg is boarded with a shaped foot and ankle.

Toes and heel have significant reinforcement.

The brief is deep and has flat seams throughout. The XL size has a rear comfort panel rather than a conventional gusset.

The brief has a 3.5cm waistband, with a Falke label attached on the inside.

Fit and sizing

The Falke Leg Energizer 50 Tights are available in four sizes at UK Tights:
  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
  • XL
I tested the XL size.

One needs to take care and time putting these tights on as the compression is quite strong. You need get them aligned, making sure the toe and heel are sitting properly. Then gradually pull them up to the knee, then repeating with the other leg. Then you can pull and carefully stretch them up to the crotch and waist making sure that they are evenly distributed.

It's worth taking the time to get them into the right position and making sure they feel comfortable. Once you have done that they feel quite amazing, like your legs are being continually massaged and stimulated.

I also found that once on, they needed no adjustment at all and stayed in place the whole day.

I think these might be the most comfortable compression tights I have ever tried. The key thing is that they do the job very well indeed: your legs will indeed feel energised. I wore them for a whole day sitting at the desk and the beneficial effect was definitely noticeable.

I am looking forward to wearing them with shorts for a medium haul flight in a few days time.

Colour range

The Falke Leg Energizer 50 Tights are available in three colours at UK Tights.

  • Black
  • Marine
  • Powder
I tested the Marine shade.

Price and availability

The Falke Leg Energizer 50 Tights are priced at £51.99.

Conclusion

The Falke Leg Energizer 50 Tights are the first product we have tried so far in the Leg Aesthetics range.

The price might be the the first thing that you notice. They are certainly the most expensive tights we have trialled and reviewed so far.

However, I can see why the price point is justified, if you need a quality product that enhances leg health. I would make the following points:

  • Quality compression hosiery is always more expensive than conventional tights
  • The design and finish of the Leg Energiser Tights is absolutely top notch
  • Packaging is very good quality
  • Spending a higher amount on quality hosiery will be a good investment in leg health. Spending now is perhaps a proactive step to prevent more problems and costly care later
These really are a superb product. Premium quality compression tights that your legs will love.

If you are flying, driving, walking or sitting your legs will feel energised and stimulated. They really do make a difference.

To back up my assessment, here is a review that a satisfied customer provided for UK Tights:

"Wow, they do what they say on the tin! The best compression tights I have tried. After a bit of a tussle they were on and I could feel them working throughout the day, I just had to move my ankle to feel them, firm but not tight. I decided to try these as I have worn Falke tights before and have found them to be long enough, many tights are not alas, and I am only 5'9 (1.75). I may try the size down as the body with gusset is a little too big though the large says up to 5'11 which I find is sometimes a bit of a struggle to fit my chunky thighs and pull up enough for comfort. Will be saving up for more."

Thanks to UK Tights for the sample and for their support for the Hosiery For Men blog.
